Lt Slaton over target

Five miles above the target, the oxygen-masked group bombardier, Lt. Samuel M. Slaton of Town Creek, Alabama, calls "Bombs Away" over the interphone, pulls the bomb release lever, and leans forward over the plexi-glass nose to watch them to the point of impact. Lt. Slaton is attached to the 91st Bomb Group. Europe, 11 September 1943.
