Lt Modrall in Sicily

Sicily -- Lt. William K. Modrall, Austin, Texas, a Mustang reconnaissance pilot, gives the "Thumbs Up" signifying that the "invasion" is going on okay. "They're landing to beat Hell", he said. Lt. Modrall, along with Major Deering, Commanding officer of this reconnaissance out-fit, were among the first Allied pilots to witness the landing. On the right is Sgt. James B. Owen, Decatur, Ala., Lt.
