Lt Col Roy W Osborn back from attack

ENGLAND - BACK FROM GREATEST ATTACK - Eighth Air Force fighter pilot Lt. Col. Roy W. Osborn of San Antonio, Texas, one of the tremendous force of American fighters escorting the bombers of the greatest attack ever on Germany's fighter aircraft production centers 20 February, returns to base after destroying an ME 110 and sharing in the destruction of a second enemy fighter. The U.S. fighters made a record bag in this attack knocking down 61 Nazi planes with a loss of only three. The previous record for enemy planes destroyed by our fighters was established Feb. 10th over Brunswick, when 55 German interceptors were knocked down. In this great major offensive of 20 Feb. Eighth AAF fighters operating under direction of United States Strategic Air Forces in Europe, displayed great fighting power as they escorted the great bomber formations targetward.
