Lt. Col. John R. Murphy, Minot, N.D. a 9th Air Force Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bomber pilot, examines the "screamer whistle he devised from a German incendiary shell. When his unit moved onto a former Luftwaffe field, the Col. found a cluster of the shells and attached one to the bomb shackle of his plane.
