Lt Col Lee over Germany

FRANCE -- Lt. Col. George "Iron Man" Lee of Norwood, Mass., a 1st TAC Air Force fighter-bomber pilot, flew his 250th mission March 26, 1945 as he took his snub-nosed Republic P-47 Thunderbolt over Germany to bomb and strafe Bensheim and the marshalling yards at Speyer. In flying his 250th mission, Col. Lee set a new high for American tactical air force flying in ETO, although he is prouder of the fact that he has never lost a plane and never turned back from a mission. Col. Lee is commander of the First TAC AF P-47 group known as the "Invaders".
