Lt Breeding in England
Lt. Paul R. Breeding, USAAF Flying Fortress Pilot, Hillsboro, Tex., is being shown the armor piercing bullet which was removed from his abdomen. Breeding performed one of the outstanding feats of the war by landing his big bomber safely in England after being wounded over Leipzig, Germany. Maj. Leslie G. Dodson, Owensboro, Ky., who performed the delicate operation, is displaying the 2 1/4 inch steel missile as Maj. Lloyd Stockwell, Kansas City, Kan., chief of the surgical division of the hospital, looks on. This case is typical of hundreds of critically wounded combat airmen who have been saved from death by the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
