Lt. Arthur L. Rosenthal, Bombardier of the 510th Bomb Sqdn., 351st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, was struck by fragments of 20 MM cannon shell in the left chest in an area protected by the body armor. This missile pierced the armor plate as shown in photographs. A few fragments penetrated the chest wall resulting in minor wounds, 10 October 1943.
