Los Negros Cemetery in Admiralty Islands
Entrance to the Los Negros Cemetery in the Admiralty Islands, wherein are consecrated the remains of the heroic men of the Seabee's, Army and Navy who gave their lives in the intense struggle for the islands. Native labor built the Momote Chapel (background) and maintain the upkeep of the grounds. Here, Pvt. Grell Smith, a 13th Cavalry Guard, is questioned about the cemetery by Lt. (jg) H.F. Quirk, USN-R from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as Lt. (jg) A.T. Sangermon of Springfield, Massachusetts (right) reverently reads the inscription above the gate. June 1944.
