Locomotives in occupied China

Moving locomotives are not easy targets, but this photograph, taken from the gun camera film in a plane of the "Great Flying Wall of China" Squadron which made a sweep deep into occupied China, shows clearly that the fighter plane's gun have found their target. The locomotive is entirely obscured by steam escaping from the boilers after the strike. This photo shows the scene exactly as the pilot saw it on this raid on the Shantung Peninsula which also accounted for 45 enemy planes destroyed, 55 damaged as well as a 150 foot patrol boat shot up. The black pointers and long, finger-like object indicates the guns have stopped firing while the camera continues to run.
