Locomotive on Moselle River bridge

Ninth Air Force fighter-bombers caught this enemy locomotive in the middle of a 300 foot bridge across the Moselle River in France, wrecking both engine and span with well-placed bombs. Freight cars just beyond the bridge approaches were strafed and set ablaze. Examining the damage are three Republic P-47 Thunderbolt pilots, left to right: Capt Lowell K. Brueland, 1st Lt. Loyd J. Overfield, and Capt Francis P. McIntire.
