EIGHTH AAF SERVICE COMMAND STATION - Here is the nose of the newest buddy of the Eighth Air Force Forts and Liberators. It's the Lockheed Lightning and currently it's cutting down the loss of American bombers over Europe. From the moment they arrive in the United Kingdom, these speedsters are under the watchful eye of Eighth AAF Service Command technicians whose job is to install the latest modifications in the twin-boomed escort. Those ugly looking guns poking above the nose are two.50 calibre guns. In the nose proper is a 20 millimeter cannon.
