Liberators hit Gia Lam rail center
When the Japanese needed it most for movement of troops in French Indo China, the Gia Lam rail center at Hanoi was hit by Liberators and Mustangs of Maj. Gen. Claire L. Chennaults U.S. Army 14th Air Force, based in China. Photo shows second day's strike in which the heavies put 90% of their bombs into the repair shops and the other 10% into the demolished railyards to clean up some odds and ends from the previous mission. Effect of the coordinated strikes was to neutralize the important rail center for a long time to come.
