Les Ponts de Ce bridge under attack

Here you see the Les Ponts de Ce rail bridge, 55 miles east of Nantes, over the river Loire in France, under attack by Marauders of the 9th Air Force. Under blanket of bomb bursts, the 5 span rail bridge--one of several Loire river spans over which passed supplies and reinforcements headed for the Normandy battle front--rocked from numerous direct hits. Traffic was halted.
