Japs Yield To Yank Power -- American Doughboys And Marines Steadily
JAPS YIELD TO YANK POWER -- American doughboys and Marines steadily push Okinawa's dwingling Jap garrison to the southern tip of the island under intense land, sea and air bombardment. The area in the foreground contained dual purpose anti-aircraft artillery which prevented American use of Naha port until the positions were reduced by naval fire and leap frog action of the 6th Marine Division's amphibious landing on Oroku peninsula. This area is about one mile south of Naha. White smoke in the distance marks the front lines on Kunishi Ridge.
