Ivory Wings presented in Bahrein

A PAIR OF IVORY WINGS---As a tribute to the Army Air Forces on the AAF's birthday, the Shaikh of Bahrein Island, a fabulously rich oil and pearl center in the Persian Gulf, presents a pair of handcarved ivory wings to Maj. George C. Bieberback of Worcester, Mass. The Major is in charge of a strategic Air Transport Command base situated on the island on the route of the aerial supply line to China. The family of Shaikh Kalifa Ben Salman Al-Kalifa has ruled the independent Sheikdom for nearly two centuries.
