If her ground crew had waited until the flak-punctured vertical
If her ground crew had waited until the flak-punctured vertical stabilizer had been repaired, it might have been days instead of hours that it was grounded. Replacement with stabilizer from an old-styled battle painted hanger queen (note contrast of dark paint with natural aluminum finish of new ships) speeds job and gets "Tomahawk Warrior" back in the pre-invasion aerial hammering of Europe faster. Buffing of old paint is easy. Here S/Sgt. Frank J. Danci of Chicago, Ill. (left) and Sgt. Edwin Ullmann of Jersey City, N.J., work on the final phase of this major operation.
