Heinkel factory at Mielec

Dated 15 April 44, here is the first Allied photograph taken of Heinkel factory at Mielec, Poland, about 135 miles south of Warsaw. Seldom now are so many German aircraft seen together comparatively undispersed. Thick as flies in molasses, here are 177 aircraft representing 14 different types, including 87 He-111s, and also a number of Go-242 gliders, Ju-87s and other miscellaneous aircraft to types used on the Russian front. Annotations on this photograph identify main types of planes, most of which are grouped together. A few single-engine fighters and trainers appear too small to label with certainty.
