Ground crew at 8th AAF Bomber Command

The mail man who is not deterred by rain, sleet nor hail, has nothing on these ground crewmen at an 8th AAF Bomber Command station. As soon as the "Hit Parade" rolled to a stop badly damaged after a raid on German territory, they were busy covering the vertical stabilizer with a tarpaulin to protect them from the driving rain while they repaired the damage. Standing on the scaffold is Cpl. N.E. Welch of Melder, La., and assisting him is Pfc. G. Pairan from Lancaster, Ohio.
