Green Project near Marseilles

The official designation for the troop-ferrying operations now being carried on between Istres/Le Tube airport, near Marseilles, and Casablanca in North Africa, is the "Green Project". It is being conducted by two heavy bombardment groups under the supervision of the 40th Bomb Wing of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. In the month and a half since the first troop-laden B-17 took off from Istres airport, over 20,000 passengers have been carried. These include civilians as well as combat veterans. The Triom Family. Emilie Triom is the mother of a French officer now serving with the French Army of Occupation in Germany. With her is her son's wife, Suzanne, and child, Christian. They are being examined by a French customs official, Louis Remadier, at the collection point of the French refugees at Port Lyautey.
