Green Project between Marseilles and Casablanca

The official designation for the troop-ferrying operations now being carried on between Istres/Le Tube airport, near Marseilles, and Casablanca in North Africa, is the "Green Project". It is being conducted by two heavy bombardment Groups under the supervision of the 40th Bomb Wing of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. In the month and a half since the first troop-laden B-17 took off from Istres airport, over 20,000 passengers have been carried. These include civilians as well as combat veterans. At Port Lyautey, Madame de Finguyon and her two children, Charles aged 10, and Henry aged 2, exchanging money through M. Dusart. Looking on is an Arab custom agent.
