A parachute is attached to the landing gear which has just been released from the glider, airborne over Comiso Airfield, Sicily, during 52nd Troop Carrier Wing maneuvers in 1943. The gear has been dropped so that the glider will make a skid landing when it reaches its destination. The tow plane is a Douglas C-47.
