French Collaborator Home In Cherbroug Peninsula

The former home of a French collaborator with the Nazis. Being a contractor he managed to find enough material to build and furnish a home for himself after building a number of concrete fortifications for the Germans in the Cherbourg Peninsula. On D-Day the collaborator's home was untouched by shell fire which made an important find for Lt. General Louis H. Brereton and Major General Ralph Royce of the 9th Air Force. Al fresco murals, marble fireplace, and marble lions and excellent pottery exemplify the sumptuous furnishings installed by the pro-Nazi contractor in the mistaken belief that he was secure under protection of the Germans.
