Fortresses over Poggibonsi railroad yards

Four days before the Allied landings on 22 Jan, Fortresses of the 15th USAAF smashed the railroad yards at Poggibonsi, nerve center of the alternate North-South route to Rome. Twenty-four hours after the landings, the Forts hit the Poggibonsi yards again. Object was to prevent the Hun from getting reinforcements into the beach-head area for a counter attack before the Allies could get set.
