Fortress formations over snow covered hills

This picture emphasizes the obscurity of the target, almost hidden in the snow covered hills. The navigators were commended for taking the Fortress formations to it. Three sighting runs over the target were made by some formations before the bombardiers were satisfied to let their bombs go. These pictures were made from Flying Fortress during the attack.
