Smoke rising from the eenter in this photo obscures all but a small portion of Fort St. Blaise a German fortification in the Siegfried line area, after an attack by Martin B-26 Marauders of the 9th Bombardment Division, 10/8/44. The 9th Air Force medium bombers damaged power installations and made one penetration of the concrete structure which is located near Biche, 50 miles east of Metz, France.
