Forest fire in enemy-occupied areas

Another forest fire in enemy-occupied areas by fire bombs from Republic P-47 Thunderbolts of a Fighter Group. Smoke from the brilliant fires shroud the countryside for miles, as the Germans in the defense positions are hopelessly trapped. This attack was in direct support of 5th Army Troops at Pianoro, just south of Bologna, Italy. Besides the damage and destruction these conflagrations cause, the German Troops' morale is hard hit by the dreaded flamethrower. Even ordinary foxholes, which protect men from high explosive or frag bombs, are useless against this type of bomb, prisoners of war report.
