Flying Fortresses over Naples

Flying Fortresses of the U. S. Army Air Forces rained fresh blows yesterday (April 4) on the battered waterfront at Naples, Italy, important supply port for the Germans in Tunisia. This photograph, made by a photo reconnaissance plane before the raid, shows the port already badly damaged. A hole 340 feet long and 140 feet deep is visible in the Victor Emmanuel quay, a merchant ship at the left of the quay has been destroyed by an explosion, and the gas works--including the circular tanks some distance from the waterfront--have been virtually destroyed.
