This runway was made in nine working days in a wheatfield at NR. Bournemouth, Hants, England. The flying fortress on the right made a crash landing here, was repaired on the spot by a mobile repair unit and is ready to take off on the runway which was laid by a U. S. 347th Engineer Unit. 6 May 1943.
