Fighter planes shipped across Atlantic

PLANES FOR COMBAT. Bombers are flown across the Atlantic but the smaller fighter planes are often shipped in knocked-down form by cargo ship from the Overseas Branch of the Air Service Command. Other Air Service technicians on this side re-assemble the fighters and a special ASC group of pilots - the Ferrying Service - deliver them to the tactical units. JUN 5 1944.
