EUROPE - Flames and smoke rise skyward from two German supply trucks, stopped enroute to the Western Front when Republic P-47 Thunderbolts of the U.S. 8th Air Force made low-level attacks on them. The photograph, made by one of the attacking Thunderbolts in the group commanded by Col. Frederic C. Gray, of Abilene, Tex., shows what is believed to have been gasoline burning in the ditch beside the leading truck. The second truck is obscured by its own smoke.
