Erla Aircraft Works burning in Antwerp
1943-04-05
The aircraft assembly shop - 300 ft. x 380 ft. - of the Erla aircraft works, Antwerp, Belgium, still burning some hours after it was attacked by heavy bombers of the USAAF in daylight on 5 April, 1943. The building was heavily damaged, as was the adjoining aircraft dismantling and wing repair shop (right). Here again, fire was still burning when this photo was taken.
