Elderly German civilian escapes Aachen

1944-10-14

During the big Yank assault on Aachen, Germany, while 9th Air Force dive-bombers and heavy artillery were "softening up" the city for ground troops, some elderly German civilians elected to escape the besieged town to the American lines. One such old lady is shown aided over a railroad embankment by a Yank. 14 October 1944.
