Eighth Air Force pilots back at base

ENGLAND - BACK FROM GREATEST ATTACK - Two Eighth Air Force fighter pilots who participated in the history-making attack of 20 February, against German fighter aircraft industry, shown talking it over after fighters had returned to base after destroying 61 enemy aircraft for a loss of three for the Americans. At left is 1st Lt. Frank A. Cutler of Cleveland, Ohio, who shot down two of seven ME 109's attempting to intercept our Flying Fortresses, and then fired a ME 110 which was taxiing for take-off from Nazi aerodrome. At right is Maj. Willie O. Jackson, Jr., of Natchitochoc, La., who destroyed a ME 109 and damaged a second.
