Eighth Aaf Service Command Station

EIGHTH AAF SERVICE COMMAND STATION - New problems are facing the Eighth AAF Service Command now with the advent of the fleet Lockheed Lightning in the aerial war on Hitler. In order to escort the Flying Fortresses into the innermost parts of Germany, it is necessary to modify the Lightning to increase its flying range. These modifications are being installed by Service Command and they include auxiliary gasoline tanks. Shown above is the mechanism, located in the cockpit, which switches the auxiliary tanks on and starts the extra flow of high octane gasoline.
