Eaker at Hickam Field

a typical Hawaiian welcome on his arrival at Hickam Field, 24 April 1946 on the first leg of an extensive inspection tour of Pacific Air Bases. He is shown wearing the traditional flowered lei, a present from the Roy W. Howard family, as he shakes hands with the son of Mrs. A.C. Perkins, shown in the picture. Mrs. Perkins is the daughter of Mr. Howard, president of the Scripps-Howard newspaper chain, who is accompanying General Eaker on his tour.
