Duffy's Tavern near B-17 wing headquarters

"Duffy's Tavern, Where the Elite Meet to Eat" is the name of the snack bar of an enlisted men's Red Cross Club, near an AAF Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress wing headquarters. Like most projects where GI's are concerned, there's always a line to "sweat out," but with doughnuts, cookies and coffee or lemonade at the end of the line most soldiers cheerfully wait their turn. This particular Red Cross club is housed in what was once the palatial district Fascist headquarters building.
