Destruction south of Cherbourg

German occupied territory just south of Cherbourg, the "Strong Fortress of Western France", this picture, taken from a Douglas A-20 Havoc of the 9th Air Force shows destruction caused by constant pounding by medium-light and fighter-bombers of the 9th Air Force. Roads, bridges, gun emplacements and ammunition dumps have been attacked in support of advancing American troops.
