Dental clinic in 51st Fighter Group

Captain Nelson of the 51st Fighter Group Dental Clinic improvised a rather interesting dental setup. The dental chair is the pilot's seat from a Douglas C-46. The cuspidor is the spinner from a Curtiss P-40 with a copper water tube soldered to the inside which permits flushing of the cuspidor. The usual foot drill has been replaced by a 24 volt motor, also a salvaged airplane part, which is operated by a battery as shown in the photograph. The tool stand is made from the sway braces of a Curtiss P-40 and the sterilizing stand, is made from a bomb tail fin. Captain Nelson, center, and his two assistants.-CHINA
