D-Day damage at Pont d'Hoe

DAMAGE FROM THE AIR FOR D-DAY. One of the most fortified and contested spots on the French invasion coast was Pont d' Hoe, of the St. Pierre du Mont sector. More than 1500 500-pound bombs left most of the heavy concrete observation posts and pillboxes in wreckage and damaged the guns. Bombs fell so thickly that they left the craters melting into each other.
