Crew over Augsburg

Quite a sharp contrast with the out of this world ordeals endured by combat crewmen is this scene of a crew that led its Group in an aerial assault over the Messerschmitt assembly center and experimental station at Augsburg on 25 Feb 44 shown in their Aero Club. Miss Rozanne Coyle of Seattle, Wash., (serving tea) and Miss Mildred Smith, Club Director of Jacksonville, Fla., (Playing accordion) ARC workers comfort the boys on their mission return. Seated left to right: S/Sgt. Edward J. Garland, Newark, N.J. ball turret gunner with 20 missions to his credit 20 yrs old; 1st Lt. John A. Silvernale, 24, of Currie, Minn., pilot with 22 missions; T/Sgt. Donald B. Carr, 29, of Charles City, Iowa top turret gunner with 22 missions; (Standing) 1st Lt Happy Hendryx, 21, of Lubbock, Tex., bombardier with 22 missions; S/Sgt.
