Cpl Ed Sutowski At Ishikawa Beach Festival

HEADQUARTERS, 71ST TACTICAL RECONNAISSANCE WING, OKINAWA, RYUKYU RETTO -- Dangling from the ladder of a Kadena based Air Force R-6 Helicopter was Cpl. Ed Sutowski's job during the three day Ishikawa Beach festival, held at Ishikawa Beach, 4, 5, and 6th of August, 1948. The breath taking Air-Sea rescue demonstration from a life raft took place at four o'clock each day, giving the astonished crowds a sample of Air Force rescue work at sea. Piloting the helicopter was 1st Lt. Robert S. Wardner of Bloomingdale, New York, a member of the 2nd Rescue Squadron at Kadena Air Force Base.
