Compaks At Captured Airstrips In France

To facilitate maintenance of aircraft at captured airstrips in France, 200 lb. supply kits, or "Compaks", were developed to furnish essential parts and supplies needed at the front. To replace damaged wing-tips, boxes of new ones were sent to advanced bases in compaks, as shown here. Removal of one wing-tip does not disturb the others, for each is anchored and cushioned.
