Colonel Martin Ninth Air Force

Col. Kenneth R. Martin, Ninth Air Force North American P-51 Mustang pilot missing in action after a combat collision with an ME 410, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, it was announced today. Col. Martin, escorting heavy bombers was simultaneously attacked by eight ME 410's, one of which he destroyed as the rest dispersed, then later flew directly into another ME 410 interceptor.
