Campobasso in central Italy

Aerial view of the town of Campobasso, located in central Italy about 40 miles west, north-west of Foggia. After the German Army was driven north, Campobasso became the home of a large military hospital for soldiers of the 2nd Polish Corps. The 2nd Polish Corps was commanded by General W. Anders and was composed of Polish Troops who were originally captured by Russia in 1939. 25 August 1943.
