C-47S in Britain

Douglas C-47s transferred to the French Air Corps and manned by French crews are hustling critical supplies right up to advanced airfields from the huge Air Technical Service Command depots in Britain. Here, 2nd Lt. Leon Marcillaud, navigator of the French Air Corps, takes a ten-minute break in flight to catch up on the comics. He sits on a vital cargo of engines, parts, equipment and tools which have been carefully packed into the plane and roped in place.
