C-47s at German airfield

Perhaps a pastoral scene by Millet -- except for the presence of the Douglas C-47's in the background. This shot was taken at an airfield somewhere in Germany which was set right in the middle of farm lands, with crops being raised and sheep being bred uninterrupted by war. This flock of sheep managed somehow to wander onto one corner of the field -- on the principle, no doubt, that distant fields are always greenest. 20 April 1945.
