C-47 Spraying DDT in Cairo
CAIRO, Egypt - A sepcially equipped US Air Force C-47, one of two rushed here to help combat the cholera epidemic, is shown spraying liquid DDT-solution at low level in the Cairo area. Daily aerial sprayings of epidemic infested areas by the two Air Force planes, which were flown here from a US Air Forces in Europe base in Germany, are credited with helping to check the epidemic. Each plane contains two 400-gallon tanks for the DDT-solution and special spray pipes in the fuselage. This plane was flown by Maj. Charles G. Ferran of San Diego, Calif. Plans call for spraying operations to continue until Dec 15.
