Bombs in Boom Town
HARMLESS-LOOKING "EGGS", but the place where they are stored is called "Boom Town." In this picture the bombs are stacked in steel-doored buildings, each vault surrounded by earthwork revetments and covered over with camouflage netting. "Boom Town" on most stations, however, is not so stylish - has only the netting and the revetments. Here Lt. Edward S. Ryan, ordnance officer, inspects nose fuse pockets for dirt or dangerous explosive material which may have oozed out.
