Bombs at Mont de Marsan

SOWED BY U.S. HEAVIES -- Both fragmentation and high explosive bombs are vividly shown in this picture taken during the attack by 8th AAF heavy bombers on March 27th at Mont de Marsan, German base for long range bombers used in anti-shipping patrols and located 60 miles south of Bordeaux. The huge billows of smoke at the lower right are the results of high explosive bombs taking their toll of hangars, administrative buildings, stores and shops while the three budding-paths across the field proper are fragmentation missiles used to damage enemy aircraft grounded on the field or dispersal areas.
