Bombers over Guilianova

Bridge-busting is like gambling - luck won't win without skill, but neither will skill win without some luck. Bombers of First Tactical Air Force went after the rail bridge at Gullianova on 24 March 44; the photo reconnaissance picture shows how the pattern of bombs straddles both the rail and road bridges - dozens of bombs look like they were "wasted" but because the pattern was right, some bombs scored hits, made cuts in both bridges.
